PDF1M Support

PDF1M is a fully offline iPhone tool: photos to PDF, PDF pages to images, and scans to smaller PDFs. Check the answers below first — most questions are covered here.

How does photo-to-PDF stay around 1MB?

The default "Balanced" preset holds the whole file to about 1MB, so documents of up to 5 pages usually land under 1MB — the "≤1MB" badge on the result screen means the promise held. More pages means each page is compressed further. If the quality floor is reached and the file is still too big, the app tells you the real size instead of quietly crushing your content.

Where do exported images go?

They go straight to your photo library. You can confirm on the result screen with "Open Photos", or send them right away with "Share". If they do not show up, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos and make sure PDF1M is allowed to add photos.

Why does text look a bit soft after shrinking a PDF?

Shrinking re-renders every page as a smaller image, so text becomes an image — that is the tradeoff that takes a 100MB scanned book down to about 20MB. It is meant for scans and photos of documents. Vector text PDFs such as ebooks are not a good fit, and the app will tell you so.

How does the free tier work?

Free users get 3 conversions per day, up to 5 pages each, resetting at local midnight. The one-time "Permanent Unlock" purchase removes both limits and opens every size preset.

New phone or reinstalled the app — how do I get my purchase back?

Open the unlock screen and tap "Restore Purchases" while signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. It is a one-time purchase, so you never pay twice.

Where are my files stored, and how much space do they take?

Converted and shrunk files live in the app's own local storage (the "Recent" list): up to 20 items and about 200MB in total, oldest removed first. Swipe a row to rename or delete, or clear everything from the home screen. Deleting the app removes those files; items already in your photo library are untouched.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

Yes. When you open a password-protected PDF, the app asks for the password; with the right one you can export pages or shrink the file. A wrong password shows an error and lets you try again. The password is only used on your device to unlock that file — it is never stored or uploaded.

Does it need internet?

No. Apart from Apple handling the in-app purchase, everything works offline, including in Airplane Mode. Your photos and PDFs never leave your device.
